FAW Toyota and GAC have launched a new strategic partnership.
On October 8, 2026, China FAW Group Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “FAW”), Toyota Motor Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “Toyota”), and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “GAC Group”) held a signing ceremony in Guangzhou for a new strategic cooperation framework agreement. Liu Yigong, General Manager of FAW; Kenji Uchida, President of Toyota; and Feng Xingya, Chairman of GAC Group, attended the event and witnessed the signing. Liu Changqing, Assistant General Manager of FAW; Tatsuro Ueda, Head of Toyota China; and He Xianqing, General Manager of GAC Group, signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement.

Recently, China FAW and GAC Group have signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement. Going forward, the two parties will leverage asset‑capital synergies and harness technological innovation as a driving force to progressively deepen and expand their collaboration, fostering efficient cross‑regional coordination of industrial resources and jointly strengthening their business foundations while enhancing corporate value. Against this backdrop, China FAW, Toyota Motor Corporation, and GAC Group, following amicable consultations, have decided to establish a new tripartite strategic cooperation framework to promote the sustained and sound development of their joint ventures.
Following joint consultations among the three parties, GAC Group plans to acquire the 50% equity stake in FAW Toyota held by China FAW through a share issuance. Upon completion of the transaction, FAW Toyota will continue to operate as an independent entity, while China FAW will become a key strategic shareholder of GAC Group. In the next phase, FAW Toyota and GAC Toyota will jointly assume responsibility for the joint venture’s R&D, procurement, production, and sales functions. This collaboration represents an important step in deepening cooperation between China FAW and GAC Group, and will further strengthen the long-term partnership among China FAW, Toyota Motor Corporation, and GAC Group. Under the new cooperative framework, China FAW, Toyota Motor Corporation, and GAC Group will work together to support FAW Toyota and GAC Toyota in advancing hand in hand and continuously enhancing their competitiveness. The three parties will leverage their respective strengths to accelerate the electrification and intelligent‑technology transformation of both joint ventures.
