GAC Aion and DiDi Autonomous Driving Company to launch their first commercial L4 vehicle in 2025.
On April 7, GAC Aion and Didi Autonomous Driving jointly announced that their joint venture, Guangzhou Andrive Technology Co., Ltd., has officially received its business license and is set to launch its first commercial L4-level autonomous vehicle in 2025. Headquartered in Huangpu, Guangzhou, Andrive Technology is equally owned by Didi Autonomous Driving and GAC Aion, with each company holding a 50% stake. Zhang Xiong, Deputy General Manager of GAC Aion, has been appointed as the Chairman, while Meng Xing, COO of Didi Autonomous Driving, will serve as the General Manager.
Currently, the first Robotaxi jointly developed by both parties has completed its product definition. According to what we know, this model is positioned as a crossover SUV, built on GAC Aion’s AEP3.0 high-end dedicated pure-electric platform and the Xingling advanced electrical/electronic architecture. It also features Didi’s comprehensive full-stack autonomous driving software and hardware solution for fully driverless operations, along with a safety redundancy system and the latest-generation in-cabin entertainment system tailored specifically for unmanned mobility services. In the future, it will integrate into Didi’s ride-hailing network through a hybrid dispatch model. This marks the first time in China that a whole-vehicle manufacturer and an autonomous driving company have partnered in a joint venture to advance the large-scale production of mass-market, driverless new-energy vehicles.
