On September 21, Gasgoo Automotive learned that Daxing Airport recently launched its autonomous shuttle service, while Capital Airport has also begun testing autonomous vehicles. Notably, in early August this year, the Beijing High-Level Automated Driving Demonstration Zone Office, together with Baidu and Pony.ai, successfully completed trial runs of autonomous vehicles performing passenger pick-up and drop-off operations in front of the Daxing Airport terminal, as well as internal shuttle services within public areas. These tests mark a significant step toward enabling autonomous vehicles to operate on roads at Daxing Airport, paving the way for the establishment of an unmanned driving route connecting the Economic-Technological Development Area directly to the airport.
Additionally, Gasgoo Automotive learned that during the 2023 World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference, an autonomous shuttle service was launched for the first time, connecting Terminal T3 at Capital Airport to the main venue at the New China International Exhibition Center. This marked a further expansion of the demonstration scenario for safe, driverless autonomous shuttling along fixed routes. At the arrival level of Terminal T3 at Capital Airport, at pick-up point No. 7, driverless Robotaxis from three different companies were neatly lined up, ready to welcome passengers aboard. The one-way distance of this new route is approximately 8.3 kilometers, while the round-trip distance covers about 17.2 kilometers.
