BYD and Sinopec deepen their strategic cooperation to jointly build a smart energy ecosystem.
On June 3, 2026, BYD Co., Ltd. (referred to as “BYD”) and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (referred to as “Sinopec”) formally signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Beijing. Centered on building a smart energy ecosystem under the “Ten Thousand Stations for Energy Accumulation, Fast Charging at Gas Stations” initiative, the two parties will engage in multi‑level, comprehensive industrial and capital collaborations spanning charging networks, the automotive owner ecosystem, and upstream and downstream segments of the industry chain, jointly driving the deep integration and transformative upgrading of the energy and transportation sectors. Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD, and Hou Qijun, Chairman of Sinopec, along with their respective teams, attended the signing ceremony as witnesses.

This agreement builds on the two parties’ existing collaborations in refined‑oil supply and the development of integrated refueling stations, further expanding the scope and depth of their partnership with a focus on three key areas. First, they will achieve seamless interconnectivity in charging‑network deployment, launching in‑depth cooperation under the “Flash Charge China Strategy” to advance the construction and operation of flash‑charging stations, serving drivers across China and around the world, and comprehensively reshaping the new‑energy vehicle‑charging ecosystem. Second, centered on the “people‑vehicle‑life” paradigm, they will create an integrated ecosystem of “energy supply + automotive services,” exploring collaboration in areas such as after‑sales automotive services, solar‑storage‑charging‑inspection, and more, while actively pursuing partnerships in membership systems, user insights, and data‑driven empowerment, thereby delivering a smoother, higher‑quality mobility experience for users. Third, they will engage in cross‑industry cooperation spanning the upstream and downstream segments of the value chain, including automotive and battery materials, refined oil, energy storage, automotive accessories, centralized procurement of supplies, and data intelligence.
As the automotive industry accelerates its transition toward electrification and intelligent technologies, consumers are demanding greener, more convenient mobility. BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charge technology have set a new global record for the fastest mass‑production charging speed: it takes just 5 minutes to charge from 10% to 70%, and only 9 minutes to reach 97%; even at −30°C, going from 20% to 97% adds only 3 minutes compared with room temperature. This breakthrough has effectively solved the longstanding global challenges of slow charging and difficult low‑temperature charging that have long plagued the first half of the electric‑vehicle era.

Currently, BYD has fully rolled out its “Flash Charge China” strategy, having built more than 6,100 flash‑charging stations to date, with plans to complete an additional 20,000 by the end of this year. Sinopec, the world’s largest refiner and China’s leading supplier of refined oil and petrochemical products, operates a nationwide energy‑service network, with over 30,000 integrated refueling stations and more than 14,000 battery‑swap and charging stations. This strategic partnership will accelerate the comprehensive implementation of the “Flash Charge China” initiative, creating a broader‑coverage, faster‑charging new‑energy ecosystem.
Wang Chuanfu, Chairman of BYD, stated that BYD has consistently been committed to driving the green energy transition through technological innovation, integrating solar energy, energy storage, and electric vehicles to seamlessly connect every link in the energy value chain—from generation and storage to end-use. With the launch of its second-generation Blade Battery and flash‑charging technology, BYD is redefining the new‑energy charging ecosystem under its “Flash Charge China” strategy, propelling the global automotive industry’s electrification into a new phase. Together with Sinopec, we will build a flash‑charging network and, leveraging this infrastructure, create a next‑generation “people‑vehicle‑life” ecosystem, jointly advancing the energy transition and supporting high‑quality development.
Hou Qijun, Chairman of Sinopec, stated: Sinopec is committed to a development path characterized by high-end innovation, intelligent technologies, and green practices, accelerating the establishment of an industrial structure defined by “One Foundation, Two Wings, Three Chains, Four New.” Leveraging its comprehensive energy‑service network and core competencies in high‑performance automotive materials and battery materials, Sinopec continues to deliver convenient, clean, and smart integrated energy solutions that enhance people’s mobility. We will deepen cooperation with BYD in areas such as driver services and data‑driven intelligence, working together to advance China’s green transformation.

This collaboration not only represents a strategic synergy between BYD and Sinopec—two industry leaders—but also marks a pivotal step in implementing the nation’s new energy security strategy. Together, the two companies will reinforce the safeguards of energy supply, accelerate the optimization of the energy consumption structure, and contribute to building a national energy system that is safer, greener, and more resilient.
