Buick’s latest model will debut the industry’s first full-vehicle OTA upgrade, covering four key scenarios: the intelligent cockpit and advanced driver-assistance systems.
On August 5, Buick, a brand under SAIC-GM, announced that starting in August, all models under its “Zijing” sub-brand will receive an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade to Zijing OS version 2.1. This marks the brand’s first full‑vehicle‑level iteration, encompassing four key functional areas: human–machine interaction, trip planning, intelligent parking, and advanced driver assistance.

The technological foundation of this upgrade is the “Xiaoyao Super‑Integration Architecture” developed by Pan‑Asia R&D. This architecture seamlessly integrates the vehicle’s chassis, powertrain, intelligent cabin, and advanced driver‑assistance systems, enabling full‑vehicle‑level, end‑to‑end iterative updates.

In terms of specific updates, the human–machine interaction system now features a voice‑driven custom scene‑creation function, with over 20 pre‑configured trigger conditions and more than 10 functional modules. Leveraging the large‑model‑based semantic understanding capabilities, users can set up their personalized scenes with a single voice command. Additionally, the AR‑HUD display and vehicle control functions have been refined, introducing dynamic “koi fish” visual effects for the AR‑HUD, while also enhancing the central‑control SR split‑screen experience, the home‑screen card layout, in‑vehicle camera feeds, smartphone app‑based vehicle control, and automatic music playback upon entry into the car.

In addition, the trip‑planning feature now supports up to 10 waypoints, introduces an “leave‑car‑without‑powering‑down” function, and features a thoroughly refined camping mode. A new engine‑start lock has been added, full‑electric‑only operation is supported, and real‑time energy‑consumption estimates are provided throughout the journey. Smart parking now includes a “Free‑Style Parking” option for spaces without painted lines, while the driver‑assistance system gains Automatic Emergency Steering (AES) and expands the range of obstacle‑recognition types for Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). Furthermore, the self‑recovery logic of the NOP Navigate on Pilot feature has been optimized to enhance the smoothness of human‑machine co‑driving.

In terms of safety, the Zijing OS employs a three-layer protection architecture—application, service, and electromechanical—blocking commands that are incompatible with driving scenarios while ensuring that physical buttons retain priority for core vehicle controls. Buick stated that, building on this update, it will gradually integrate more advanced AI agents and Momenta’s R7 large model, further enhancing the intelligent experience and expanding autonomous driving capabilities.
