Beyond the international stage, BYD is deeply committed to campus football, partnering with the Dongrun Cup to nurture young players’ dreams on the green pitch.

On September 17, 2026, a grand strategic cooperation signing ceremony between BYD and the Dongrun Public Welfare Foundation was held in Beijing. Li Yunfei, General Manager of BYD’s Brand and Public Relations Department, and Kong Dongmei, Founder and Chairperson of the Dongrun Public Welfare Foundation, joined guests from various sectors and representatives of youth football trainees to witness this momentous occasion. This partnership underscores BYD’s steadfast commitment, cultivated over many years in the football arena—extending beyond the international spotlight to firmly establish its roots in school‑based programs and county‑level youth training systems. The ceremony proceeded with formalities including the signing of the agreement, the presentation of plaques, and the exchange of gifts, officially marking the launch of a new chapter in their strategic collaboration. Moving forward, BYD will wholeheartedly support the Dongrun Cup National High School Youth Football Tournament, deepen its engagement in campus football, and contribute to strengthening the foundation of youth football development across China.

Unlike the spotlight of international competitions, the Dongrun Cup provides an arena for ordinary high school students from county-level schools in Xinjiang, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, and other regions to showcase their talents. This year’s tournament spans more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China, benefiting 352 schools and over 4,000 players and coaches. The finals bring together 20 teams from 20 provinces, competing on the same field. Many young footballers from rural counties, driven by passion, face challenges such as limited access to professional competitions and insufficient training resources. By supporting the provincial leagues and the national finals of the Dongrun Cup, BYD is helping to build a broad, equitable platform for youth athletes to compete.
As a national 5A‑level non‑public fundraising foundation under the supervision of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Dongrun Public Welfare Foundation has meticulously developed the Dongrun Cup, which has become one of China’s most influential high school football tournaments. In addition to organizing competitions at various levels, the project concurrently carries out equipment donations and public‑interest training for grassroots coaches. All prize money and funding from the tournament is channeled into strengthening school teams, effectively addressing the shortage of resources in grassroots school football programs.

Kong Dongmei, Chairperson of the Dongrun Public Welfare Foundation, stated: “Football is the world’s No. 1 sport, and young people are China’s future. The Dongrun Cup not only identifies football talent but also places great emphasis on cultivating well-rounded character, nurturing the spirit, and empowering the long-term growth of youth.” As a national enterprise committed to independent innovation and deeply rooted in patriotism, BYD has consistently and actively fulfilled its social responsibilities—aligning closely with the Dongrun Public Welfare Foundation’s original mission. This collaboration will further enhance the charitable value of the Dongrun Cup, providing more football‑loving children with a platform to pursue their dreams and advancing the integration of sports and education in a meaningful and sustainable way.

“We can’t take the field for them, but we can bring them onto it,” emphasized Li Yunfei, General Manager of BYD’s Brand and Public Relations Department. Over the past decade, the Dongrun Public Welfare Foundation has remained steadfastly committed to philanthropy, becoming a model for supporting youth development. This long-term spirit aligns perfectly with BYD’s own philosophy. Football knows no boundaries, and every pitch is equal in size; we not only hope that young Chinese footballers can glimpse a wider world, but also look forward to providing them with a stage to showcase their passion.

This strategic partnership marks another significant step by BYD in supporting the development of youth football. Since 2024, BYD has sent more than 200 young footballers to Europe, the Americas, Southeast Asia, Japan, and other regions to engage in exchanges and training with top overseas clubs, while also taking them to premier international tournaments such as the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup to broaden their global horizons. In collaboration with the Dongrun Cup, BYD will continue to prioritize the growth of domestic youth football. Looking ahead, the two parties will leverage their respective strengths, channel resources into grassroots schools, and harness corporate expertise to foster the robust development of Chinese youth football.
