On May 13, the company organized a Party-building activity, visiting the memorial hall. As soon as our eyes fell upon the "Battle for Shanghai" themed sculpture, it immediately captivated us with its awe-inspiring presence: soldiers charging forward with guns in hand, while civilians eagerly offered food and water—scenes where smoke from battle mingled with the first rays of dawn, silently yet powerfully recreating the heroic spirit of the liberation campaign for Shanghai. Following the guide’s narration, we learned about the unique challenges of this battle—balancing the need to crush the enemy’s fierce resistance while simultaneously doing everything possible to protect the city’s infrastructure, as well as the lives and property of its residents. The PLA soldiers’ tactical brilliance in executing the seemingly impossible task of "hunting mice in a porcelain shop," coupled with their unwavering spirit of self-sacrifice, deeply moved everyone present.
After the visit concluded, standing outside the memorial hall and gazing at the bustling, vibrant cityscape, one can’t help but feel how much harder-won today’s peaceful and prosperous life truly is when compared to the devastated scenes captured in photographs from over 70 years ago. The Shanghai Liberation Memorial Hall is not only a silent witness to history—it also serves as a beacon of inspiration, reminding us that even in times of peace, the spirit of revolution must be cherished and passed down.
