FAW Jiefang: By 2035, annual sales of new-energy vehicles will reach 500,000 units, generating revenue of 250 billion yuan.

On September 29, at the FAW Jiefang New Energy Strategy Launch and New Energy Business Unit Establishment Conference, Chairman Hu Hanjie unveiled the "15333" New Energy Strategy.
Specifically, "1" refers to one overarching vision: FAW Jiefang is committed to becoming a global leader in the new-energy commercial vehicle sector, delivering "China's No. 1 and world-class" new-energy solutions to customers worldwide. By 2025, the company aims to achieve annual sales of 120,000 new-energy vehicles, accounting for 20% of total sales, with revenues reaching 50 billion yuan. By 2030, this target will grow to 320,000 new-energy vehicles, representing 50% of total sales and generating 150 billion yuan in revenue. By 2035, FAW Jiefang plans to sell 500,000 new-energy vehicles, increasing their share to 70% of total sales, while boosting revenue to 250 billion yuan. The number "5" symbolizes five major vehicle platforms—heavy-duty, medium-duty, light-duty, micro, and passenger models—catering to five key product lines: tractors, cargo trucks, dump trucks, specialized vehicles, and buses. These platforms cover a wide range of applications, including long-haul transportation, short-distance shuttle services, urban construction waste management, concrete mixing, municipal sanitation, city logistics, and urban public transit. Meanwhile, the three "3s" represent three distinct technology pathways—pure electric, hybrid, and fuel cell—along with three major strategic initiatives in R&D, production capacity, and ecosystem development. Additionally, they encompass three exclusive new-energy commercial vehicle services: battery-electric separation, full-vehicle leasing and capacity management, and used-vehicle trading coupled with battery recycling programs.

Meanwhile, FAW Jiefang's New Energy Business Division has been officially established. In fact, FAW Jiefang has already been making strategic moves in the new-energy truck market. The establishment of this dedicated new-energy division aims to enable more focused and efficient development and management. In December 2017, FAW Jiefang set up a new energy complete-vehicle production base in Qingdao, laying the groundwork for its cutting-edge intelligent driving platform tailored specifically for next-generation, eco-friendly vehicles. This innovative platform features a cab and chassis design entirely customized for new-energy applications, as well as advanced connectivity and smart technologies. In November 2019, FAW Jiefang unveiled a range of all-electric special-purpose vehicles at the 2019 China International Commercial Vehicle Exhibition. Among them were the all-electric kitchen waste collection truck, the electrically operated detachable garbage truck, and the pure-electric road sweeper—all making their debut together. These models underscored FAW Jiefang's unwavering commitment to driving down commercial vehicle emissions and advancing sustainable, green development. In September 2020, FAW Jiefang introduced its independently developed "Blue Path" innovation strategy, centered on the core principles of "resource conservation and environmental friendliness." This forward-thinking approach has positioned the company firmly in the new-energy market, with continuous investments in R&D and relentless efforts to boost technological innovation. After years of dedicated research and development, FAW Jiefang has achieved significant breakthroughs in key areas such as power batteries, electric drive technology, and vehicle-level controllers—paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future in the commercial vehicle industry.

In July 2021, FAW Jiefang launched its first intelligent power domain brand, establishing four major solution platforms—G, H, E, and F. Among these, the "H, E, and F" platforms provide comprehensive coverage of three mainstream technologies: new-energy hybrid (oil-electric), pure electric, and fuel cell systems. This move marks FAW Jiefang's significant transition—from a traditional powertrain model to an advanced power-domain strategy.
Hu Hanjie once stated at the event commemorating the 65th anniversary of Liberation's vehicle production: "Only by independently innovating and mastering critical technologies can we ensure the autonomous controllability, safety, and reliability of our industrial and supply chains." Additionally, it’s worth noting that FAW Jiefang has now launched a comprehensive lineup of 141 new-energy products spanning heavy, medium, light, micro, and passenger vehicles—including models like the J7, JH6, J6L, and J6F—successfully achieving the electrification of its traditional vehicle portfolio.
