Accelerating the Deployment of Autonomous Vehicles: Horizon Robotics and Neolix Forge Strategic Partnership
Recently, we learned from official sources that Horizon Robotics, a domestic edge AI chip company, and Neolix, an AI-powered autonomous vehicle R&D firm, have announced a strategic partnership. Under this collaboration, the two companies will engage in deep cooperation focused on low-speed autonomous driving scenarios, accelerating the practical implementation and large-scale deployment of unmanned vehicles.

The Neolix autonomous vehicle is built on L4-level autonomous driving technology, helping partners deliver efficient food service, retail solutions, security services, and more to the public. According to official information, Neolix is the world’s first company to successfully commercialize and scale up L4-level autonomous vehicles, achieving both operational efficiency and profitability.
According to the plan, the new Neolix autonomous vehicles equipped with Horizon Journey 2 chips and perception algorithms will enter mass production and deployment in the second half of this year. Journey 2 is a automotive-grade AI chip independently developed by Horizon, featuring the Brain Processing Unit (BPU), a computing architecture specifically designed for artificial intelligence. It delivers over 4 TOPS of equivalent computing power, with each TOPS of AI performance exceeding 10 times that of a comparable GPU in terms of raw computational capability—perfectly meeting the demands of autonomous vehicles for high performance and low power consumption in AI chips.

In addition to providing AI chips for the Neolithic autonomous vehicle, Horizon Robotics also offers a perception algorithm based on the Journey 2 chip. This algorithm can detect and identify unusual vehicles such as tricycles, delivery e-bikes, and mobility scooters. It can also handle complex driving environments, such as unusual lane markings and sudden diagonal cuts.
In addition, according to Horizon Robotics, the company will launch the even more powerful Journey 5 high-level autonomous driving chip this year, boasting 96TOPS of AI computing power. Officials claim the chip's actual performance will surpass Tesla's Full Self-Driving System (FSD) chip. For the latest news on autonomous driving, please stay tuned to Autohome for follow-up reports.
