——Some ADT Shanghai Managers Dedicated themselves to Community Epidemic Prevention and Control Volunteer Work

Since March 2022, Shanghai has been hit by an unprecedented outbreak of the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus, creating a challenging and complex epidemic prevention and control situation. Since March 28th, a group of esteemed Party members and mid-level managers at ADT have stepped up to the forefront of the community's epidemic prevention efforts, demonstrating unwavering commitment and dedication. They have become volunteers on the front lines of the epidemic prevention efforts.

In accordance with the unified directives of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, all employees at ADT headquarters and its Shanghai project offices have strictly adhered to Shanghai's lockdown requirements, working from home or accompanying production at client factories. Under these circumstances, a group of company managers have spontaneously joined the community's epidemic prevention volunteer service teams. These include dedicated Party members, dedicated couples, and responsible operations managers, all of whom are contributing to the frontline epidemic prevention and control efforts with concrete actions. They are: Xi Weifeng (Manager of the Engineering and Equipment Department), Wang Chen (Director of Operations Department 3), Yang Fan (Party Member, Chairman of the Company's Labor Union and Director of Operations Department 1), Shen Jian (Party Member, Director of Human Resources), Wang Chunyan (Director of Operations Department 6), and Ge Haiyang (Head of the Paint Project Department at SAIC-GM Jinqiao South Plant). Xi Weifeng, a resident of Puxing Road, was one of the first volunteers to join the company headquarters. He learned that the community, facing the sudden outbreak, needed the cooperation of all residents in nucleic acid screening, and that relying solely on the existing neighborhood committee staff was insufficient. Since March 28th, Xi Weifeng has volunteered as a "Dabai" (white bodyguard) to join the community's epidemic prevention volunteers. Since then, he has been meeting the medical staff conducting nucleic acid screening at 5 a.m. every day, working until 5-6 p.m., with only a break. Whether he's maintaining order during nucleic acid screening or delivering express parcels, takeout, or vegetables to building entrances, he constantly offers suggestions to optimize the existing model and minimize inconvenience for residents (such as notifying and assisting elderly residents with their nucleic acid code). Xi Weifeng even deliberately avoids drinking water during his morning service, saying this reduces bathroom breaks, conserves the community's disposable "Dabai" medical coveralls, and improves work efficiency. His simple actions have earned him widespread praise from community residents for his epidemic prevention volunteer work. Wang Chunyan, the company's only volunteer husband and wife team, lives in Linmei New Village in Pudong New Area. Due to the rapid spread of the epidemic in their community, many supporters tested positive for the virus, and even the neighborhood committee and property management committee were wiped out. In particular, residents on four floors of their building tested positive. As a member of the quarantined building, Wang Chunyan did not retreat. Starting on April 14th, he spontaneously organized a group for residents in the building, took charge of group purchase registration and distribution, and oversaw disinfection and garbage collection in designated areas. This reduced residents' access to public areas, effectively avoiding the risk of cross-contact and providing tangible support to residents. Wang Chunyan's husband also leveraged his professional expertise as a medical professional to join the community on the front lines of the pandemic. In mid-April, he unhesitatingly participated in the community's work to test samples for individuals quarantined at home who had tested positive for the virus. Wang Chen, a volunteer who leads the step count in his social media, lives in Weifang New Village in Pudong New Area. His village is large and has many buildings. As one of the first volunteers to join the community, he delivers daily necessities to residents over 20 times a day. Within the short 100-meter distance of the community, each piece of supplies requires countless trips back and forth, requiring at least 20,000 steps a day. Supplies often don't arrive at the community until 10 p.m., but as soon as Wang Chen sees a task in the "Volunteer" group, he'll head out to participate in the timely delivery, even if it's late at night, the temperature plummets, or it's windy and rainy. As Wang Chen puts it, "I'm 60 years old, and while volunteering is hard work, I find it rewarding!"

Yang Fan, a Party member who lives in Nanmatou Road Subdistrict and was one of the company's first volunteers to work in the community, signed up as a volunteer as soon as the community went into lockdown. As a member of the community's supply delivery team, Yang Fan actively promotes a "relay of love" approach to community work, distributing supplies, express deliveries, and antigen reagents to every household in an orderly and timely manner. Yang Fan prioritizes sorting and distributing medications waiting to be dispensed, delivering them to residents' homes as quickly as possible on his electric bicycle, thus navigating the final 500 meters of the community's medical insurance card collection and medication collection process. Resolving these small issues has warmed the hearts of residents and strengthened their confidence in defeating the epidemic.

Shen Jian, a Party member volunteer from Zhoupu Town, is the longest-serving community member. Nearly 20 of the 90+ buildings in his community have abnormal test results. Whenever residents with abnormal nucleic acid test results require retesting and staffing is insufficient, Shen Jian, a Party member, proactively volunteers and actively cooperates with door-to-door nucleic acid testing and the distribution of antigen reagents. Shen Jian says this is the responsibility of a Party member! His repeated efforts to assist residents with retesting abnormal nucleic acid test results are designed to help everyone screen as quickly as possible and win the battle against the epidemic.
Our first volunteer from the Shanghai project—Ge Haiyang, Paint Project Manager at SAIC-GM Jinqiao South Plant—was a community volunteer. He proactively used his ingenuity to implement a phased approach for notifying residents of relevant buildings and conducting nucleic acid tests in batches during the community lockdown. He also consistently reminded residents to maintain a two-meter distance from one another. This effectively prevented the risk of cross-infection from excessive crowding. He also patiently provided assistance to elderly residents who were unable to access their nucleic acid codes on their phones, alleviating their anxiety. Small gestures, great love!
The pandemic is ruthless, but love is found in the world! The names of volunteers are so kind and shining; their hearts are so warm and broad; their acts of kindness are so touching and moving. Volunteers are civilized interactions, and they are the angels of joy in the world! Let us overcome these challenges together, and with our ordinary lives, defend Shanghai.
