XPeng Motors is expected to achieve true self-driving capability by 2025.

IT Home reported on August 2 that this morning, Alibaba Cloud announced via its official Weibo account the completion of "Fuyao," China's largest autonomous driving AI computing center built in Ulanqab by Xpeng Motors, leveraging Alibaba Cloud's intelligent computing platform and dedicated to training autonomous driving models.

Today afternoon, He Xiaopeng, founder and chairman of XPeng Motors, posted on Weibo: "With the launch of XPeng's 'Fuyao' intelligent computing center, which significantly boosts computing power for autonomous driving simulation training, I believe XPeng Motors will start removing the word 'assisted' from its advanced driver-assistance systems in 2025, officially stepping into the era of true full self-driving."

He Xiaopeng believes that in the future, no matter which smart-car company exists today, self-developed intelligence will become essential. As a result, all of them will face extremely high demands for computing power, driving its cost to surge from today’s hundreds of millions of yuan to potentially billions of yuan in the years ahead. The strong synergy between Xpeng and Alibaba Cloud in both algorithms and computing capabilities is an inevitable path forward.
Xiaopeng Motors has previously released multiple test videos of the Xiaopeng City NGP, showcasing scenarios such as urban road tests (including U-turns, traffic light recognition, lane changes and detours, handling large vehicles, and low-speed following judgments), as well as road tests conducted in extreme weather conditions like nighttime heavy rain. He Xiaopeng emphasized that during the testing phase, they aim to cover all-weather scenarios as comprehensively as possible, ensuring the product undergoes rigorous refinement across every aspect—ultimately enhancing its safety. Furthermore, on July 28, he announced that the final rollout of the City NGP feature is just around the corner.
IT Home has learned that XPeng Motors' autonomous driving AI computing center, "Fuyao," boasts a computing power of up to 600 PFLOPS, boosting the training speed of XPeng's core autonomous driving models by 170 times. Additionally, GPU resource virtualization utilization has increased threefold, while end-to-end communication latency is as low as 2 microseconds.
