BAIC Design Salon Makes Its Debut: Three Major Design Centers Drive Brand Transformation

On July 31, 2025, the inaugural BAIC Design Salon was grandly held at the Shengbai Art Center in Beijing. This event served as a vibrant platform for exchanging and showcasing design concepts centered around the theme "FASTER BUT BETTER—Faster but Better." Aligned with BAIC Group's "Three-Year Leap Action," the BAIC design team has consistently strived to create products that are more competitive while firmly upholding a user-centric value proposition. With innovative design aesthetics and guided by the group’s medium- to long-term development vision, BAIC is driving transformation through design, paving the way for a comprehensive and groundbreaking leap forward in brand innovation.

At this salon, Mr. Luo Weiji, Global Design VP and Chief Design Officer of BAIC Group, unveiled the company’s first post-hiring creation—the Arcfox 77° concept car—and delivered a keynote speech. He emphasized that competition in the future automotive market will ultimately hinge on "design prowess," and that BAIC is committed to achieving differentiation through innovative design. The BAIC design team is set to develop a comprehensive design methodology that focuses on long-term vision, consistent execution, and targeted innovation. By doing so, they aim to significantly enhance both the breadth and depth of BAIC Group’s design capabilities, while fostering a collaborative and mutually beneficial team culture.
At the same time, we draw insights and inspiration from an international perspective to drive design initiatives for China—and beyond. BAIC Design boasts three premier design centers: the Beijing Design Center, the Shanghai Design Center, and the European Design Center, bringing together exceptional resources for design and development. Today, we’ve successfully assembled top talent in Beijing, Shanghai, and Turin, Italy, leveraging their wealth of experience, forward-thinking vision, and unparalleled expertise to propel BAIC Design toward even greater heights of innovation and growth.

Luo Weiji comprehensively unveiled the brand-new ARC-FLOW (Ji Zhi Yuan Liu) design philosophy to the public. Rooted in the harmonious fusion of natural rhythms and cutting-edge technology, this design philosophy aims to imbue designs with deeper emotion and infuse technology with greater warmth. At its core, the ARC-FLOW (Ji Zhi Yuan Liu) design philosophy rests on four key pillars: Boundless Intelligent Sensation, Ultimate Performance, Adaptive Comfort, and Warm Embrace. "Boundless Intelligent Sensation" seamlessly integrates the physical and digital realms, redefining the driving and riding experience through intuitive interfaces and intelligent connectivity. "Ultimate Performance" pushes beyond conventional boundaries, achieving a perfect balance between efficiency and range. "Adaptive Comfort" enables the vehicle to dynamically adjust itself—whether responding to user preferences, road conditions, or even the driver's emotional state. And finally, "Warm Embrace" brings human-centered warmth into every detail, transforming the vehicle into a heartfelt companion that fosters meaningful connections.

The ARCFOX 77° concept car is the first tangible embodiment of ARC-FLOW, the brand’s “Extreme Intelligence, Infinite Flow” design philosophy. In the realm of forward-thinking automotive design, a concept car does more than just showcase future styling—it serves as a strategic tool, guiding the teams involved in the overall vehicle-design process. The name “77°” draws inspiration from the collective wisdom of online enthusiasts, reflecting the latitude of 77° north—the very heart of the Arctic Circle, where arctic foxes naturally thrive. This iconic location symbolizes the brand’s profound connection with nature, while also marking a pivotal step in ARCFOX’s transformation into a design-driven automotive brand.
In terms of exterior design, the 77° concept car perfectly blends modern aesthetics with aerodynamic efficiency. Its low-slung, coupe-like silhouette seamlessly combines the versatility of an MPV; its Aurora Dynamic Light Language intelligently adjusts brightness and color tone in response to environmental changes. The frameless window design blurs the traditional boundary between body and glass. Meanwhile, the integrated rear styling features a sleek, continuous LED taillight strip that echoes the front headlight assembly. Added to this are streamlined wheel arches and aerodynamic wheels—every detail showcases the unique charm of tech-driven design. As for the interior, the 77° concept car reimagines mobility by creating a versatile "magic" space that adapts to users' needs. With customizable full-scene seating modes, it effortlessly shifts between family-friendly, office-oriented, entertainment-focused, or minimalist settings—tailored to match any mood or occasion. An adaptive seat curtain allows users to instantly transform the cabin into a private, relaxing retreat. Plus, the retractable steering wheel intelligently folds away when activated in autonomous driving mode, expanding the interactive space within the cockpit. And with its modular trunk system, the vehicle can easily accommodate diverse lifestyles through the addition of specialized components.
