Zebra Intelligence unveils its first edge-side multimodal large model, paving the way for smart cockpits to enter the era of proactive intelligence.

On July 27, during the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Zebra Intelligence, in collaboration with Tongyi and Qualcomm, unveiled the industry’s first on-device multimodal large-model solution, paving the way for automotive smart cockpits to enter an era of proactive intelligence. "This is the industry’s first on-device multimodal large-model solution powered by Qualcomm’s 8397 platform, enabling the smart cockpit to achieve a 90% closed-loop 'perception-decision-execution' service entirely through in-vehicle capabilities," said Si Luo, Chief Technology Officer of Zebra Intelligence, at the press conference. He added that the on-device native agent built on this solution can seamlessly perform multimodal intent recognition, understanding, and interaction, marking a generational leap—from merely being a "command receiver" to becoming an active "conversation participant."

At the Zebra Intelligence booth, users can effortlessly activate the local lifestyle Agent on the IM L7 equipped with Yuan Shen AI. From requesting a coffee to selecting specifications/flavor and finally placing the order with payment—all steps are seamlessly handled through natural, conversational interactions. Meanwhile, the robotic barista at the on-site Yuan Shen AI Coffee Shop will deliver the freshly brewed coffee right to the car, allowing attendees to truly experience the harmonious coexistence of humans and machines in everyday life. Zebra Intelligence showcased its cutting-edge edge-side multimodal large-model solution—powered by Qualcomm’s 8397 chip—through real-world scenario demonstrations. For instance, when a user enters the car after sweating from physical activity, Yuan Shen AI automatically adjusts the cabin environment based on factors like interior temperature, the user’s condition, and their movements, instantly activating either cool air for instant refreshment or warm air for comfort. Additionally, if the vehicle encounters prolonged traffic congestion during a journey, Yuan Shen AI “notices” the situation and proactively suggests a playlist to help ease travel stress and alleviate driver anxiety.

From the perspective of the domestic automotive market, "large models entering vehicles" is gradually shifting from being marketing-driven to scenario-driven. AI Agents are now beginning mass production for vehicle integration, delivering entirely new experiences, while large-scale intelligent cockpit models will become the key technology enabling a transformative leap in user experience.
