BYD power batteries pass the new national standard certification.

Recently, BYD's Blade Battery and Flash-Charging Blade Battery both successfully completed all testing requirements ahead of schedule under the latest national standard GB 38031-2025 "Safety Requirements for Power Storage Batteries Used in Electric Vehicles," earning professional certification from the China Automotive Technology & Research Center's Automotive Testing Center. This early achievement not only meets the new national standards but also strengthens BYD's technological edge even further.

The new mandatory national standard for power battery safety, GB 38031-2025, was recently released and will officially come into effect on July 1, 2026. The revised national standard includes three major upgrades:

The new national standard for batteries has introduced stricter safety requirements. Even before the latest national standard was released, BYD has always placed great emphasis on the safety of power batteries. As early as 2002, BYD chose the lithium iron phosphate technology route. In 2020, BYD launched its Blade Battery, which uses lithium iron phosphate materials, setting a new global benchmark for power battery safety and guiding the industry back to a safer technological path. In 2022, BYD unveiled its CTB (Cell-to-Body) battery-body integration technology, featuring a unique sandwich structure that significantly enhances both the battery’s structural robustness and the vehicle’s torsional rigidity. Building on this innovation, BYD has established a comprehensive "four-in-one" battery safety system—covering material safety, cell-level safety, pack-level safety, and overall vehicle safety. Thanks to this robust framework, both BYD’s Blade Battery and its Flash-Charging Blade Battery have already passed the latest national standard tests ahead of schedule, achieving safety performance that meets the most stringent current national criteria.
As early as 2020, Blade Battery was the first to successfully pass the nail penetration test, a challenge often referred to as the "Mount Everest of the battery industry." Even under extreme conditions—when a steel needle pierced through the cell, triggering an internal short circuit—the Blade Battery remained completely safe, with no open flames, no smoke, and no explosions. In the crushing test, after being subjected to the weight of a fully loaded 50-ton truck, the Blade Battery pack remained intact, showing no signs of leakage, deformation, or smoking. Once installed in a vehicle, it continued to function perfectly as usual. BYD’s newly unveiled Flash-Charging Blade Battery is also the industry’s first megawatt-class power battery to meet the latest national standards. Prior to the official release of these new standards, the Flash-Charging Blade Battery already passed a rigorous 400kN compression test (compared to the new standard’s 100kN requirement), again demonstrating zero smoke, no open flames, and no explosions. Moreover, this innovative battery has also successfully endured a scraping test at a vehicle speed of 70 km/h (exceeding the C-NCAP standard’s 30 km/h requirement) with an overlap distance of just 30 mm. Throughout the test, the battery pack showed no cracks, no electrolyte leakage, and no fire or explosion incidents. After being reinstalled into a vehicle, it once again performed flawlessly, ready for use.

Both the Blade Battery and the Flash-Charging Blade Battery have successfully passed the new national standard tests ahead of schedule. This not only serves as an authoritative validation of BYD's leading-edge power battery technology but also demonstrates the company's steadfast commitment to user safety. With unwavering dedication to safety, BYD ensures that every journey you take is protected.
