The 10,000th unit rolls off the production line—Mengshi M817 features an intelligent off-road layout.

On December 26, 2025, the 10,000th complete vehicle of the M817, an intelligent off-road model under Dongfeng Mengshi Technology, officially rolled off the production line. This milestone not only marks the initial validation of Mengshi’s product delivery capabilities but also strategically aligns with Dongfeng Motor Group’s overall goal of surpassing one million new-energy vehicle sales by 2025, highlighting the brand’s phased achievements on its path toward new-energy transformation and high-end development.

As the core product of Maxus Auto aimed at the mainstream market, the M817 has, since its launch, achieved delivery of 10,000 units within four months—thanks to its three major technological clusters: “Huawei’s full-stack technology, all-domain connectivity, and all-dimensional safety.” This milestone reflects the market’s initial recognition of the new positioning of “intelligent off-roading.” Developed through deep collaboration between Maxus and Huawei, this model integrates Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving systems, smart cockpit technologies, and Maxus’s proprietary off-road platform, with the goal of redefining the technological boundaries and usage scenarios of off-road vehicles.

Faced with the wave of industrial intelligence and the evolving demands of users, Mingshi Auto has announced the full-scale launch of “Operation Summit,” a systematic transformation initiative driven by four key dimensions: organization, product, technology, and ecosystem. The company’s goal is to become “the premier luxury intelligent off-road brand.” On the organizational front, Mingshi will build a user-centric operating system, adopt Huawei’s IPD and IPMS frameworks, establish an end-to-end closed-loop mechanism for gathering and responding to user feedback, and commit to service standards of “10-minute response, 1-hour solution, and 1-day closed loop.” At the same time, the team structure will become even younger, further strengthening the entrepreneurial spirit and cross-disciplinary collaboration capabilities.

In terms of product planning, starting from 2026, Maxus will launch two new models each year, forming three major product lines: the flagship Totem series, exemplified by the 917; the volume-oriented market series centered around the M817; and a brand-new entry-level series aimed at a broader user base—thus achieving comprehensive coverage from high-end hardcore off-road vehicles to mainstream intelligent off-road vehicles. In addition, the development of right-hand-drive models has been put on the agenda, laying the foundation for global expansion.

Over the next five years, MENGSHI plans to invest 12 billion yuan in R&D of core technologies for intelligent off-road vehicles, with a particular focus on areas such as intelligent driving, wire-controlled chassis, off-road safety, and energy systems. By deeply integrating with Huawei in the fields of intelligent safety and off-road safety, MENGSHI is committed to establishing a new “all-dimensional safety” standard and enhancing reliability and user experience in complex scenarios.

In terms of ecological development, MENGSHI emphasizes the shift from “selling vehicles” to “providing off-road lifestyle solutions.” In 2026, MENGSHI will join forces with Huawei to launch its first flagship brand experience center and optimize its channel network, implementing differentiated strategies tailored to various product lines. Regarding the service system, MENGSHI aims to achieve a 98% response rate to user requests within 10 minutes and a service satisfaction score of 95 points. The MENGSHI app has already integrated over 1.45 million public charging stations, supporting seamless energy replenishment for all types of journeys. Meanwhile, through the route recommendation platform “MENGSHI Roadbook” and the training system “MENGSHI Smart Wilderness Academy,” MENGSHI is lowering the barrier to entry for off-roading, helping beginners get started quickly while also providing an engaging social and advanced-learning platform for experienced off-road enthusiasts.

The rollout of 8.17 million M8 vehicles is not the end point—it’s the starting point for Maxus to enter a stage of scaled development. Supported by Dongfeng Group’s new-energy strategy, Maxus is shifting from breaking through with individual products to building systematic capabilities. Its collaboration with Huawei has also moved beyond mere technology supply, extending to the entire value chain—including product definition, joint R&D, co-creation of marketing strategies, and ecosystem co-construction.

It’s worth noting that the “intelligent off-roading” advocated by Mingshi is not merely a simple addition of smart features; rather, it involves a fundamental architectural overhaul that deeply integrates off-road capability with intelligent user experience. The intelligent chassis equipped on the M817 can perceive terrain conditions in real time and automatically adjust suspension and power output. Meanwhile, its advanced intelligent driving system provides decision-support assistance on unpaved roads, making off-road adventures safer and easier.
Against the backdrop of slowing growth in the traditional hardcore off-road vehicle market, MENGSHI has chosen to tap into a new blue ocean by combining “intelligence + off-roading.” This move not only responds to the trend of consumption upgrading but also aligns with the strategic direction of Chinese brands striving for higher-level breakthroughs. The delivery of 10,000 vehicles has validated the feasibility of its business model, and the full-scale launch of the “Peak Climb Initiative” signifies that MENGSHI is shifting from product-driven development to ecosystem-driven growth. Continuing to place user needs at the core, MENGSHI will drive the evolution of off-roading—from a specialized skill reserved for a few to a lifestyle accessible to more people—through continuous technological iteration and ecosystem enhancement.
