—— A Team-Building Activity at ADT in August 2024

On the morning of August 3, 2023, ADT organized a team-building activity for 17 mid-level managers: a visit to the Shanghai Museum. Located in People's Square in the heart of Shanghai, facing the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the Shanghai Museum is a tripod-shaped building that evokes the "round sky and square earth" concept.
On the morning of August 3rd, at 8:30 a.m., visitors had already begun to arrive in an endless stream, forming a long queue outside the entrance of the Shanghai Museum. At precisely 9:00 a.m., the museum officially opened its doors for ticket inspection and admission. Our company’s delegation joined the orderly line and smoothly entered the venue. Boasting thousands of years of cultural heritage—over 100,000 exquisite artifacts from China and abroad—the Shanghai Museum stands as one of China’s four great museums, holding treasures that collectively represent nearly half of the nation’s invaluable cultural relics. The museum’s exhibition spaces are spread across four distinct levels: - The first floor features the Ancient Chinese Bronze Gallery and the Ancient Chinese Sculpture Gallery; - The second floor showcases the Ancient Chinese Ceramics Gallery and the Tandelou Ceramics Gallery; - The third floor houses the Ancient Chinese Painting Gallery, the Ancient Chinese Seal Carving Gallery, and the Ancient Chinese Calligraphy Gallery; - The fourth floor is dedicated to the Chinese Minority Ethnic Crafts Gallery, the Ancient Chinese Jade Gallery, the Chinese Ming and Qing Furniture Gallery, the Ancient Chinese Currency Gallery, and a special exhibit room devoted to ancient Central Asian coins from the Silk Road. As a premier institution dedicated to ancient Chinese art, the Shanghai Museum offers a comprehensive glimpse into the brilliant evolution of China’s artistic legacy throughout history. Renowned both domestically and internationally for its exceptional collection richness and unparalleled craftsmanship, the museum proudly displays historical treasures from every dynasty. Among its most celebrated holdings are masterpieces such as the Western Zhou Dynasty’s Da Ke Tripod, the Spring and Autumn Period’s Zi Zhong Jiang Pan; the Tang Dynasty’s Yue Kiln Celadon Hibiscus-Shaped Bowl and the Yongzheng Emperor’s Powder-Colored Fulu Shou Olive Bottle; as well as iconic works like Sun Wei’s "Elegant Figures" from the Tang Dynasty, Wang Xizhi’s "Duck Head Pill Postscript" from the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and Wang Xizhi’s "Shangyu Postscript," all of which are revered as national treasures admired far beyond China’s borders.
Due to the company's 2023 semi-annual meeting scheduled at headquarters that afternoon, the group of visitors from the company, though still eager to continue exploring, had to hurriedly depart from the Shanghai Museum around noon. Although their time there was limited, the treasures left behind by ancient civilizations vividly showcased the timeless traditions and profound cultural heritage of China's rich history—truly boundless in their depth and significance. Participants in this team-building activity enthusiastically shared that visiting the Shanghai Museum had been a profoundly enriching experience, making the trip absolutely worthwhile!
